In February 2015, heavy winter storms have covered the city of Boston with over 30 inches of snow. Main media outlets asked everyone to be cautious and keep calm. But social media went a little crazy. Using the #BostonBlizzardChallenge hashtag, people began filming themselves jumping out of rooftops and windows into the piles of snow that had accumulated throughout the storm. The hashtag became a trending topic so quickly, that the Puerto Rico Tourism invited those people to a place where snow doesn’t exist and jumping off things made complete sense. Three #BostonBlizzardChallenge jumpers were flown in from Boston for an all-expenses-paid trip to Puerto Rico. They went on a tour through the island’s most beautiful beaches and waterfalls, where they jumped safely to their heart’s content into Puerto Rico’s warm waters. Every jump was filmed to replicate the original #BostonBlizzardChallenge posts and was shared through the country’s social media platforms. As snow keeps falling on the United States even though it’s already March, we want to remind people that when the cold drives you insane, coming to Puerto Rico makes all the sense in the world.
