CEAR - Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid
Thanks, Banksy / J. Walter Thompson Madrid
In view of the refugee crisis, CEAR launched a campaign whose image was the European flag in which the stars were replaced by 12 drowned bodies.
This image was distributed around social networks with one objective: to be shared by influencers like Banksy. But Banksy did a lot more than that. He posted it on to his Facebook wall without the CEAR logo, making out that it was his own work.
Thanks to his plagiarism, the campaign turned into a global phenomenon and CEAR managed to get thousands of signatures and 13 million in funding from the Spanish Government.
